Well, it's that crazy time of year again. Summer is upon as is the new Onkyo Receiver line. I plan to do a "Take" on the 608 and then not until the higher end models hit. I am a little shocked at how much the 1008 and 808 are lacking when compared to the last generation. I think Onkyo feels they went to far ahead last year and felt the need to scale them back a bit this year. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

The modern receiver has become one of the fastest evolving and technologically advanced elements of a home theater. Receivers can network with your LAN (local area network) for music and video streaming, decode a multitude of audio formats, many that have only existed for a few years, scale video, and even cook you breakfast. I bought this unit on July 1, 2010 and the HDMI input for the Blue Ray DVD player no longer works. I had to connect an HDMI switch to one of the other HDMI inputs to run two devices off of one of the remaining HDMI inputs that still work. And every once in a while, it seems to get stuck and won't switch HDMI inputs so I recycle the power (unplug the unit) and that seems to work. Other than that, the sound is great. I have 7 large speakers and 2 subwoofers connected. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

This is a very good receiver for the price. Great sound quality, easy to program the remote to use with other components. Doesn't run any hotter then any other high powered receiver. Took getting used to to assign the inputs but once I got it everything works and sounds great. Definetly would stick with Onkyo products and J&R. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

- This is a great unit! The next level up (609) has networking and some other features I'd never use, for a lot more $$$, and the same specs. Since this is run from an HTPC in my living room, I didn't need networking or an Ipod dock. I don't know of anyone who uses (Sirius) satellite radio (my DirecTv has 50 channels of music). Onkyo is supposed to have a stellar reputation for quality but that is not turning out to be my experience. My unit is only 11 months old and the HDMI IC has failed twice now. When the unit did work the actual performance was pretty good, but not stellar. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
- - On-Screen menu - Audyssey setup should ensure best sound performance for your rooms acoustics. - Sports a wide array of features
- - Quality control is suspect. To have the same problem occur only 8 months after repair at an authorized service center is most disappointing.
