Canon’s EF-S 18-200mm IS is quite simply the lens many Canon DSLR owners have been waiting for. It equips EF-S compatible models with a massive 11.1x optical zoom range, equivalent to 29-320mm, and crucially includes Image Stabilisation to iron out any camera shake. By delivering wide angle to decent telephoto coverage, it could be the only lens many owners will ever need. Like other super-zoom lenses, this massive range brings enormous compositional flexibility. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
Canon heeft met het EF-S 18-200 mm/F3.5-5.6 IS een zoomobjectief met een zeer groot bereik op de markt gebracht. Bezitters van dit objectief hoeven alleen nog maar in extreme situaties van lens te wisselen. Lees Meer

for the 18-200 IS, I was highly skeptical that this lens could produce even reasonable optical quality throughout the focal length (FL) range. Any FL range over 5x (max FL/min FL) raises a warning flag in my mind - you just know that there will be at least some optical deficiencies. And an 11x zoom lens is just begging for optical problems. The lack of a USM AF system raised a second warning flag. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
Canon had a somewhat weird timing regarding the release of their EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. It is extremely difficult to design such a lens to start with and more so under low-cost requirements. Combine these side conditions with the rather extreme quality requirements of a high resolution APS-C DSLR a la EOS 50D (@ 15mp) and this sounds like trouble. The Canon lens has a couple of weak spots. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
This lens replaces the 18-55mm IS lens I have on my Rebel XSi, I have been waiting for this lens for quite a long time, carrying 2 lens and change them just too much hassle for me. Besides the 11x zoom, I also like its 2 UD Glass usually found in Canon's "L" lens. I would not mind to pay extra $200 if Canon would add USM and dust and moisture resistant to this lens to make it near "L" lens level. Finally the lens hood is expensive if you can find it at all. I purchased this as an upgrade lens for my Canon Rebel XS. After reading many reviews I decided to give this lens a go, I was looking to upgrade from the kit 18-55, to a lens that could offer quality optics as well as an all-in-one lens. I am a mom and I primarily use my camera for pictures of my children to scenic views of our outings. My children are still young so I couldn't afford the time to change lenses to get the perfect shot. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
No lens in this catagory is perfect, you have to accept each lens shortcomings...this lens works best with the canon auto focus system hands down, tamron and others take forever to focus and often frustrate. While not perfect...clearly works better than others. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

This was the kit lens I got with my 60D. I loved it at first but after a few months started to be unimpressed with its sharpness. It is not a bad lens just not great. I would have been disappointed if I paid retail price for it. The IS is very nice, I can shoot hand held down to around 1/5 at 18-24mm and 1/15 at 200mm with very little blur even in low light. I am not sure the sweet spot in the focal range but it is really soft at 200mm. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
