The Cambridge 840C CD player delivers the best CD playback I’ve heard from any player under $5k—and it costs $1499. Not only is the 840C easily the greatest value in digital sources in my experience, it must be considered one of the greatest bargains in all of high-end audio. There's just one thing... the Anagram Technologies filter is good, but it's not perfect and as commonly happens there's some aliasing around 22.05kHz. A slightly sharper slope on the filter would fix that, but would it improve the sound even further? Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

In action the 840C is a revealing, even sizzling player. It has a strong sense of definition and plenty of welly when it's called for. Not as refined as the Cyrus, it nonetheless gives that player a run for its money with a tight and nimble bass and a clear-cut if slightly drier midband. The sound always has good scale if it's on the recording and compared to the Rega you get a much fuller version of events, one that is clearly in 3D. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

This is marketed as the poor man's Roll's Royce: great at a good price. The Rover of CD players. As far as I am concerned it is shrill, bright, and indistinguishable from whatever Costco has on offer for $65. I would try the benchmark DAC coupled with a $65 player as transport. Benchmark has made pro stuff for years; Cambridge relies on bought and paid for reviews in Stereophile and the Absolute Sound, the 2 US audio bibles. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

Ich habe den CD-Player seit Mai im Einsatz und kann die Bewertungen von Stereo und Audio nur bestätigen. Sehr schöner, reaktionsfreudiger und musikalischer CD-Player.
