Its sound quality compares very favorably along with other disc players I've reviewed, even some higher end models and sounds better than my own SACD/CD player, which cost more than the C-S5VL just a few years ago. I was hesitant about plunging into SACD mainly because of the additional cost of the disks. Not any more. This machine brings out sound that has been buried in regular CD mixes and makes you feel like you are sitting front and center of the musicians. I have bought Onkyo equipment for years off and on, especially while stationed overseas with the military in Japan on two different occasions. A few years back I purchased a DVD player that could also read SACD. SACD provided a significant step up from regular cd, and then I no longer liked listening to regular cd's because they now sounded harsh in comparison to SACD. This Onkyo takes away the harshness of cd's and brings SACD up to the next level. The sound is present and clear. Super Gerät. Kann sich mit high end Geräten messen laut Weltweiten Testberichte. Hochwertige Verarbeitung Staubdicht. Optisch sehr edel schade nur ..ein wenig wacklige CD Lade.
