We wouldn’t normally test two products from the same lineup in two consecutive issues of the magazine. But when Western Digital’s My Book 3.0 showed up just days after the March issue went to print (it's on newsstands now!), we knew we had to review it. It doesn’t have an e-label or capacity meter, like the My Book Elite. Nor does it include WD’s SmartWare backup software or hardware encryption. - The Western Digital My Book 3.0 is fast and is bundled with a USB 3.0 PCI Express card; it runs cool and quiet.
- The My Book 3.0 doesn't let users upgrade the hard drive and it's expensive. Western Digital didn't include backup software with the drive.

If eSata is not for you, or you are one of the few already equipped with a USB 3.0 capable computer and don’t feel like waiting for all the other USB 3.0 products announced at CES, then go and pick up the My Book 3.0, as there’s not much else out there. I have noticed that I will be the first to say this but I well beyond the point of updates and settings and restore point too feel anything nice about this product. I have very new computer that worked fine until I started using this product. I have an Asus dual core AMD processer with 12 gig of ddr3 memory, 1TB hard drive, USB 2.0ports,3.0 ports pci card, blu ray burners, 3D HD video card and some other upgrades that all worked perfectfully well before this drive was... This drive is 2 TB in size and once the USB 3.0 PCIe controller is installed it works as fast as my eSATA drives. Can't believe the great perform and the extra portability though many systems don't have USB 3.0 support yet. The drive has a small white light on the front which lights to indicate activity and blinks slowly when the drive powers itself down due to lack of use. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

i understand products have flaws, if its man-made it will eventually fail. this on the other hand is not acceptable. seems there are a lot of customers on here experiencing the exact problem i am having. this is a poorly and cheaply made product. i do not recommend this to anyone who wants to not worry about lost data. This drive was purchased for my son to clean off my network drives. Copying across the network was easy and fast, although that was mainly due to the network set up. The Drive itself...absolutely NO set up for this device. I plugged it in and it just simply worked. It came with a lot of pre-loaded software, but didn't see a need for installing for copying files. Drive was fast with moving files across USB 2.0. Don't have USB 3.0, but I can only imagine the speed. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

You should be able to power it off and keep it off until you want it on. I would not have bought this drive at any price if I knew it did this. I will disconnect and not use this drive as a result. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
