Paper Mario brings an innovative look to the RPG turn based world. It has a solid storyline and has solid characters that gamers will fall in love with. It combines seriousness with witty comments, and on every single aspect is greater than the original. Cover to cover, it brings a solid battle system into play, and is near impossible to put down. Paper Mario is an enjoyable experience I hope to enjoy again. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

While fundamentally similar to its predecessor, it comprehensively outdoes the original in every way. if you're broad-minded enough you'll be rewarded with the most entertaining game in years Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

    • Superbly stylised, Immensely charming
    • A little linear, May be just too odd for some

Visual novels are a tricky genre to evaluate. They are typically long on reading and short on action; how much you enjoy the experience is largely dependent on how much text you can tolerate. A good plot and interesting characters help, and fortunately 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors (hereafter sanely abbreviated as 999 ) has both. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

    • Intricate, mature storyline; forced repetition made tolerable by some design aspects
    • Much, much more text than actual gameplay

I thought Mario was supposed to be the portly one, but apparently he’s paper thin. Don’t worry, though, it’s a good thing. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

Every once in awhile, a game comes along that will absolutely captivate players. Paper Mario for the N64 was one such time bandit. The game arrived in February 2001, and it ruined my spring break plans. I had a grand vision of sitting around doing absolutely nothing, but I found myself glued to the controller, collecting badges, hitting things with a hammer and laughing at poor Luigi who had to sit at home while Mario went off adventuring. There are many strategies to this game. I used the 5HP, high FP and higher BP Mario with 20 Power Rush badges. I do 50+ damage every bounce/hammer. The risk of dying is huge though. Life Shrooms rock! Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

    • Um...no multiplayer? No idea how it would work if there was MP.
  2. Decent game, but not up to usual Mario standards

Being a big fan of Mario, I found this game quite disappointing. It does have its strenghs: it is full of original ideas such as the way the 2D graphics are cleverly used to give Mario new moves and there are a good range of characters to pick up, each with their own moves. It also has a decent story line with some good humour and several side quests to keep you busy. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

I seem to have found myself in a position in which I must respectfully disagree with Ian. While I concur that the "kiddy" exterior of The Thousand-Year Door can and should be overlooked, I haven't found a particularly "meaty" RPG underneath the game's cute and silly surface. If anything, I would say that the game seems somewhat hollow. The story of the game, for example, is too fragmented for its own good. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
