    This GPS is advertised as a multifunction, driving, hiking and boating GPS, but in fact it is just an automobile / driving GPS with moisture seals added to the battery box etc. The map that comes with the GPS is suitable only for driving. You can add a $160 marine map but this GPS can make only limited use of the information on the map, and the navigation interface is limited to a pretty poor compass interface for "off road" use.     I bought this unit to make navigation on my F800GS motorcycle easier, which it definitely does. Gone are the days of checking and rechecking MapQuest directions through the map pocket on a tank bag, trouble seeing my directions in the dark, and having to keep backup directions in case it rains.     • Small, Powerful, Bright display, 4+ hour battery operation. Very sensitive. Car & Bike mounts included.
    • Fuzzy display graphics. Poor TTS quality. Not configurable.

  • navigatie op het water

    mijn vraag betreft het navigeren op het water. tomtom navigeert niet maar laat alleen zien waar je vaart. ik wil echt van a naar b navigeren waarbij brug en sluistijden zichtbaar kunnen worden gemaakt. maar buiten de brug en sluis info kan ik ook leven. maar navigeert dit model werkelijk of laat dit model ook alleen zien waar je bent?

    De Garvin nuvi 55O brengt je van punt A naar B, ook op het water, maar je moet wel speciale waterkaarten inladen. Je bepaalt waar je naartoe wilt gaan en dan krijg je de kortste weg aangeboden, indien je dat wenst. Hij zorgt ervoor dat je eventuele zandbanken en pieren vermijdt. Hij houdt bovendien ook rekening met eb-en vloedstanden. Voor meer info, zie:
