    A boggling lack of HDMI output and several other unforgiveable pitfalls make the FreeAgent a dud. When Western Digital introduced its smart WD TV HD Media Player earlier this year, which is designed to mate portable hard drives with big-screen TVs, we knew it was only a matter of time before rival disk manufacturer Seagate would come up with something similar.     Want a glossy mother ship for your FreeAgent Go drives? Seagate has the answer. Simply slide your portable drive into the Theater’s topside dock. Like the WD TV, it automatically marshals your media collection into categories by type of file. Unlike the WD TV, though, this unit hit some compatibility snags once they arrived: It wouldn’t play any flavor of AAC music file. Equally disheartening is the lack of HDMI and optical audio.     • No support for RAW image files. Composite and component outputs only. Had trouble recognizing external drives that weren’t FreeAgents.

    Previously, I reviewed the Seagate FreeAgent Theater hard-drive based media player. Now, Seagate has introduced an updated version, the FreeAgent Theater+, that not only allows playback of audio, video, still image files stored on a portable hard drive, USB flash drives, and many Digital Still cameras, but also adds 1080p output via HDMI, and home networking/internet access via ethernet.     With a shape vaguely reminiscent of a shrunken PlayStation 3 Slim, the Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ certainly looks like it belongs under your TV. It comes with all the connections you need to hook it up to your TV and home network, including HDMI and component video outputs, digital optical and analogue outputs, two USB ports (one front, one back) and, of course, 10/100Mbps Ethernet.     Nice player plays most of the videos & Audios but I face probs with some 1080i videos it plays only audio & some DTS audio files it is not even shows the files inside the folder. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

    Das Gerät befindet sich seit wenigen Tagen in meinem Besitz. Es unterstützt sehr viele Formate. Die Dockingstation für Seagate-Festplatten ist auch eine optisch ansprechende Lösung. Die Menüführung könnte allerdings etwas einfacher sein. Leider funktionier das gezielte Springen zu einer bestimmten Position im Film auch nicht. Schade. Für den Preis aber trotzdem ein gutes Gerät.     Habe meinen Player am 26.08.10 gekauft. Gerät erstklassig, spielt alle mir bekannten Filme ohne Probleme ab. Kann man nur empfehlen, habe Firmware-Update gezogen und installiert, funktioniert einwandfrei. Bild und Ton erstklassig. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
