Dat er na de eerste WD TV een netwerkvariant zou gaan komen was niet verrassend en Western Digital heeft met de WD TV Live een prima product afgeleverd. Was je al helemaal weg van de WD TV, maar miste je de netwerkmogelijkheden, dan is de WD TV Live sowieso een goede vervanger. Maar ook als je op zoek bent naar een compacte netwerkmediaspeler en een ingebouwde opslagmogelijkheid hoort niet tot je wensen, dan is dit apparaat een goede keuze. Lees Meer

For the £100 asking price, you're getting a pretty impressive media box with can stream 1080p video and 5.1 DTS sound from your USB storage, home network or online. A good range of integrated internet services is provided, including YouTube, Facebook and Spotify - although it's a shame that iPlayer is missing for UK users. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

So far I have had a lot of fun with the WD TV Live. The setup of the box itself was very easy, though getting it to recognize my computer as a media server took a little extra work. Even with 2 bars of wireless (small router across the length of the house) it streams with very little need for buffering. Watching internet videos from youtube and "services" take a little time to buffer with 2 bars. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

- Remote could use an update, and perhaps a keyboard.

I purchased this for playing movies from a portable hard drive and have found that it is a wonderful machine. It plays most movie formats and once in a while you may have to restart it. Took about 10 minutes to set it up but about 30 minutes to get a hang of the controls. Each time it is switched on it takes a while to get past the boot screen so be patient (go and make a cuppa) The player does exactly what it says it will do and I'm glad I chose this model with the Ethernet connection (RJ45) so I can stream direct from my PC/Network without having to keep plugging in a USB external HDD. Unlike the reviewers at cnet I had no problem with connectivity. I used a Dlink wpa-140 wireless usb network adaptor to connect to my network. Within 5 minutes of opening the box I had a choice of playing video from 1 windows share or 4 smb shares (3 on Macs and one on a Dlink DNS-323 NAS) I also had a choice of playing video from the uPnP AV server on the nas device and via the AV server built into Vuze.
