With AMD's affordable Phenom II X6 parts giving enthusiasts reason to be tempted over to their side of the fence on the processor front, so an improved chipset was always going to be required to offer up a suitably compelling motherboard to pair with it, and while the 890FX is tasked with chasing that enthusiast market outright it doesn't mean that the 890GX is something to be sniffed at either. The Asus M4A89GTD PRO has scored very highly in our tests, representing competitive performance across the board (pun not intended). Despite being an integrated graphics solution it has also presented itself as the potential basis of a performance orientated system and a logical successor to the previous generation of 790GX and 790X motherboards. This board is our first experience of Asus's new Core Unlocker tech. AMD has removed support for unlocking hidden CPU cores with the new 8 Series chipset, so Asus has developed a workaround. We can confirm it works splendidly, transforming our puny little Phenom II X2 into a fully functioning and ludicrously cheap quad-core beast. Maybe those AMD chips aren't so bad after all. AMD has launched their 890GX chipset to a lot of accolades for bringing the HD 4200 integrated graphics and SATA 6 Gb/second to the masses. Integrated graphics on this board are faster than any of the previous chipsets, and support DirectX 10.1 features that are the minimum they should support for today’s video chipsets. There is a caveat however, the integrated HD 4290 is not much faster which is a bit of a disappointment on AMD’s side of things. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

I've built 2 computers using this board with no problems or complaints. It's very user friendly, fast, and easily to OC. Add a AMD 965 black edition, 16 gigs of ram,a 5770 graphics card, windows 7 64, and you have a machine that will do about anything you need to do. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

Bought many ASUS boards for customer builds over the years, but the point has come to abandon ASUS as they've abandoned their customer base - SYSTEM BUILDERS. The last 4 boards I've purchased from ASUS have failed within 6 months (no O.C.). ASUS has been dropping the ball on Quality Control for some time now and their customer service department just makes excuses, gives you the run around until you become so frustrated that you just give up.
