Netgear says this will work in linux 2.6 kernel. That is not quite correct. It will recognize and load default driver, but it will only transfer speed at 10 mbs. Card info shows 1000 mbs, but you can't get it to work that way. This card uses the Realtek 8169 chip. There is a work around on the forums, but it is not easy to do. You have to know how to compile from source and remove the normal driver to replace it with a different one. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
Original Review (December 7, 2010): I decided to give this NIC a try, since there several reviews indicating it works right out of the box on Windows 7. I received the package today and installed it in my computer. Sure enough, after my Windows 7 came up, it recognized the NIC (Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family PCI Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)). I put this card in a 9 year old Dell Dimension 4400 I give it a 5 star works just fine The old card went bad and this fixed the problem Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
Default driver for 2008 server x64 killed on board nic. Had to downgrade to an xp driver for this card to work. Nice enough card though after the driver issued was resolved. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
