    Sanyo may not feature regularly in the minds of tech fans, but the company makes some seriously good projectors at some very reasonable prices. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

    • Hugely impressive all-round picture balance; extremely flexibly and straight-forward; very quiet
    • Slightly deeper blacks would be nice

    The main consequence of choosing the PLV-Z800 is compromising on the depth of the blacks. In just about every other area, it's comparable to its big brother, the PLV-Z4000 and is even slightly brighter. Compared to its predecessor, the PLV-Z700, the only real change is a reduction in energy consumption while on standby. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

    • No filter to improve fluidity of moving images, Gamut too wide in the green area, Blacks are washed out, Upscaling could be better

    The Sanyo PLV-Z800 is an entry-level 1080p home theatre projector with a quoted contrast ratio of 10,000:1 and ANSI brightness of 1200 lumens. It needs a dimly lit room to really shine, but we were impressed by its performance given its price. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

    We know this projector has been pretty highly lauded in some AV circles, and we have to admit that for some reason, during this review we found ourselves more struck by the positives of the Z800’s performance than we did when we reviewed its nearly identical Z700 predecessor in 2008.     Sanyo’s PLV-Z800 is fine at displaying bright scenes but doesn’t handle monochrome or dark content well. You can get a better LCD projector for less money. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands

    Projecting onto a screen 78 inch diagonal this gives an excellent picture even if there is some limited background illumination. The abillity to shift the lens means that you have a certain amount of freedom in where to place the projector. Lees Meer Translate to Nederlands
